The Story
Inspired by the stunning Santa Barbara coastline of California and the luxury estates that call that part of the world home, Montecito Restaurant delivers a rich taste of elegant west coast living to the Entertainment District of Toronto.
This classically aligned palette of materials is designed to emphasize the restaurant’s soaring two-storey volumes and at the same time, create a warm and intimate guest experience throughout each area. Lighting plays a major role in creating a soft and relaxed coastal vibe.
Santa Barbara’s sublime coastline and foothills provided all the inspiration. A light and approachable brand identity was designed to emulate the soft and relaxed California coastal vibe. The identity embodies the sentiment and personality of that quick illustration one would sketch as they stop amidst the breezy drive alongside the Southern California coast. The Cypress Tree refers to a much-loved tree that resides on Ivan Reitman’s Montecito property.
